Job summary
As part of the multidisciplinary West Community Learning Disabilities Health Team, you will be managing a caseload of adults over 18 with learning disabilities, who are referred to the service.
This post is based within the West community team but the service works together with the East community team and will be part of the physiotherapy team across the county. There may be possibility of flexibility on where this post can be located and please speak to the lead physiotherapist about this possibility.
You will provide physiotherapy assessment and interventions using core physiotherapy skills for individuals with a learning disability. This includes monitoring their health outcomes and progress through review of their care plan.
You will have or be supported to develop skills in community based physiotherapy and understand the health needs of people with learning disabilities. You will provide advice and training regarding learning disability physiotherapy issues and interventions. You will have a key role in working with service users and a wide range of health professionals and other partners and agencies to reduce health inequalities and promote access to mainstream health services, enabling people to be as independent and involved as possible.
Note this is a Band 6 post or we would be happy to consider a Band 5 with the opportunity to develop to a Band 6. Please indicate within the application which banding you are applying for against the attached job descriptions.
Main duties of the job
You will carry out specialist assessment of those with complex needs under the supervision of senior staff, including those with complex postures and physical health needs and will also be supervised to deliver specialist interventions such as postural management, aquatic therapy and rebound therapy as well as assessing and prescribing specialist equipment (eg postural management and specialist mobility aids) and providing training in its use.
