Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 18 May 2025

Job summary

We are looking for an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist to join our Psychology and Psychological Therapies team within the Cornwall Dementia and Older Peoples' Mental Health Service. We welcome applications from those qualifying in 2025, as well as applications from those with post-qualification experience in this specialism, or those considering a change.

We would be keen to discuss your hopes for development in your own particular interests, including working towards accreditation in a specific modality. At the same time, we believe in prioritising staff wellbeing and will support you to ensure your workload is manageable and rewarding.

Our friendly team has regular away days and recently hosted a system wide, multi-agency event with Playback Theatre Southwest, to support shared reflection and learning with both service user and staff experiences taking centre stage. A new team member recently said, "I have felt really welcomed and supported by the team".

We have strong links with the Clinical Psychology (DClin) and Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) training courses at Plymouth University, contributing to the older adult, dementia and neuropsychology teaching programmes, and regularly hosting Trainee Clinical Psychologists. We developed CFT's Trust wide Undergraduate Psychology Intern programme and regularly offer placements to students nationwide. .

Main duties of the job

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
