Job summary
Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Foundation Trust is excited to be able to offer a new specialist clinical training post for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy within our Children and Young Peoples Eating Disorder Service. This training is a Professional Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
We are looking for a trainee who is engaged with curiosity in psychoanalytic thinking, holds an outward looking countenance, and demonstrates a commitment to improving the lives of children, young people, and their families. The candidate should have a particular interest in work with children and young people with eating disorders.
This is a four-year NHS England funded clinical training post. Funding includes tuition fees; fulltime salary; and a contribution to travel, accommodation, and analytic expenses.
Candidates must have completed their preclinical training, an Association of Child Psychotherapy (ACP) recognised 'observation course'; and will need to have been accepted into one of the clinical training schools linked to the Southwest (Tavistock Centre or IPCAPA).
Main duties of the job
Training as Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist from Cornwall will require significant personal commitment and resilience as training entails engagement in challenging clinical work, personal psychoanalysis, academic learning, long-distance travel and being regularly away from home.
This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.
