Main duties of the job
The role is unique in its development of a multi-agency commitment around the child to improve health, social and educational outcomes for the child and young person. The Post holder will be expected to have excellent communication skills to enable them to live the journey with the young person. They will ensure that the child's needs are modelled across settings and that barriers to delivery are flagged with relevant agencies.
The Keyworkers will be assigned to a small number of young people and work intensively with them and their families, under the supervision of a senior keyworker. Successful candidates will be innovative and dynamic thinkers, who place the child and young person at the heart of decision making and ensure their voice is heard.
As Cornwall is a rural county there is an expectation for key workers to have a driving license and access to a car. Training for this role will build on the post holders understanding of autism, learning disabilities and how these relate to trauma and the risk of inpatient admissions. Continuing professional development opportunities are available and support will be given to deliver the role.
