Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, self driven, problem solving person who is enthusiastic about the development of systems and processes that help to demonstrate the great care that operational colleagues deliver in partnership with patients.

The successful person will, as part of a team of 5 Governance Business Partners, work as part of the wider integrated governance directorate having day to day involvement with the mental health care directorate. The role will provide advice and support on all matters relating to governance to support the embedding of a culture of continuous improvement across the Trust, ensuring opportunities for learning and improvement are maximised.

The Governance Business Partner is a key contact on issues relating to governance, risk, safety and assurance, clinical audit and CQC standards, leading to triangulation of intelligence to identify early warning signs of failure and opportunities for improvement. You may also be one of a dedicated team of specialist senior lead investigators for the patient safety incidents in accordance with the Trust's Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and plan (PSIRP).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on the development of the governance agenda via a business partner model for a defined part of the operational services whilst working as part of the central assurance team to triangulate intelligence to identify early warning signs of failure and opportunities for improvement. The post holder is accountable through the Head of Assurance to the Director of Corporate Affairs, Strategyand Assurance.

You will play a key role in identifying and defining the information required to monitor governance, clinical effectiveness, patient safety, compliance and quality outputs of the services provided, whilst embedding an early resolution approach to concerns and complaints and supporting our duty of candour, ensuring incidents and complaint investigations and responses happen within agreed time frames, ensuring that reports and any associated action plans are of high quality and are monitored and evidenced.

To succeed you need to be forward thinking and results orientated as well as passionate about improving the way we do things so we can continuously improve. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills are required, as well as attention to detail and accuracy. Previous experience in a governance or quality-related field along with a passion to develop and learn is key.
