Job summary

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for an exciting opportunity to come and work in Falmouth Hospital, where you will be part of our dynamic and developing inpatient service? You will be working alongside experienced Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Support Workers as well as all members of the Multidisciplinary Team.

As a team we offer a supportive working environment where you can further develop your clinical and interpersonal skills. We have a structured in-service training programme; supervision and appraisal system and you will be actively encouraged to participate in the student education programme.

It will be an expectation of this post that if needed the person works flexibly across all areas of the Central Integrated Therapy Team to include the Community Rehabilitation Team and Home First. Seven-day working could become an operational requirement of this post in the future. This is a 30 hour permanent contracted post.

Main duties of the job

This is a Band 6 Occupational Therapy post in the Falmouth in-patient therapy team. The post holder will be required to work in the Inpatient Team providing rehabilitation to adults with physical health problems.

As the lead Occupational Therapist you will be expected to hold and manage a complex clinical caseload and facilitate appropriate discharge from hospital. You will demonstrate highly specialist skills in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with a wide variety of long term/acute medical conditions and be responsible for the development of support staff through regular supervision and appraisals. You must have excellent communication skills with an empathetic and caring nature. You will need to be highly organised and have experience of working in older person's services. You will need a UK driving licence and the ability to travel to various locations to facilitate hospital discharges.
