Job summary
The Senior Stroke Specialist Physiotherapist will work across 7 days on a rotational basis, across the whole county as required, as part of the ICSS Team to ensure all patients who have had a stroke, have access to specialist assessment and associated care.
The Senior Stroke Specialist Physiotherapist will undertake a clinical specialist role in the ICSS Team. Delivering a high standard of physiotherapy including planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluation of care for complex stroke patients. Performing advanced neurological assessments of patients, including those with highly complex presentations, and from this formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan. Will have highly specialist knowledge in the specific area of stroke and will support and mentor more junior members of the ICSS Team.
The role will support education delivery across the stroke pathway and act as a clinical resource for colleagues.
Main duties of the job
- Use expert and advanced clinical reasoning to formulate and deliver an individual physiotherapy treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice involving the patient, carer and/or appropriate staff.
- Use problem-solving approaches to develop original, effective & efficient recommendations that demonstrate evidence of positive risk taking, for improving the quality of professional practice in unpredictable & normally specialised contexts
- Demonstrate technical mastery of complex skills within unpredictable contexts and modify a technique in-action
