Job summary
We are welcoming applications for a Senior Diabetes Specialist Podiatrist to join our multidisciplinary foot team at St George's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This position offers the chance to work within an innovative and collaborative Diabetes Foot Clinic, in one of London's largest and busiest hospitals. This is the Hub site, for South West London, and we collaborate extensively with nearby spoke sites.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic individual to deliver best practice care to patients at high risk of limb loss. The successful post-holder would be expected to support senior colleagues and clinic management whilst integrating themselves into a busy outpatient clinic and bi-weekly Diabetes Foot MDT. They would support and promote effective, evidence-based care to patients with a range of diabetes foot conditions, whilst incorporating and championing the biopsychosocial model of care. The use of advanced therapies, including topical negative pressure therapy, larvae therapy and total contact casting is well established within the team.

Main duties of the job
We are proactive and constantly looking to improve the care of patients with diabetes foot complications. This enables colleagues to contribute to service development, clinical audit, patient and staff education, research, trials and publications. Recent colleagues have presented at national conferences, attended CPD events, and are developing a diabetes foot network across SWL. The service is fully integrated within the hospital which provides several exciting rotational and developmental opportunities, together with monthly interprofessional CPD and journal clubs. To work as an integral member of the podiatry clinic and diabetes foot MDT to deliver high quality care to patients with an increased risk of limb loss.
As a senior team member, to act as the podiatrist in charge in the absence of Band 8 colleaguesTo provide line management and support to junior members of the team.To commit to the philosophy of care with emphasis on patient empowerment & independence.Provide treatment and advice at a variety of sites within St Georges Hospital; primarily the diabetic foot outpatient clinic but also providing inpatient ward cover and support to A&E and the AcuteMedical Unit.
