Job summary
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join the SLT team within our band 6 rotations. The rotations include Stroke (HASU & ASU), Neuro Cardiac, Acute (General & Specialist Medicine), Neuro Rehabilitation at The Wolfson Rehabilitation Unit, Acute paediatrics and Community Outpatients within Wandsworth Community SLT team.
The postholder will be part of a progressive and supportive speech and language team consisting of 30+ SLTs across a range of specialities. Great emphasis is placed on supervision and professional development along with a commitment to innovation and research. Experience working with adults and /or paediatrics with communication and swallowing impairments is essential as is dysphagia training. Working closely with patients, carers families and key agencies is an important part of the work. Excellent communication skills are essential and an interest in the process as well as the outcomes of rehabilitation is desirable.

Main duties of the job
post holder will have responsibility for providing a specialist speech and language therapy service to paediatric and adult patients within St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. They will be flexible, with a commitment to new ways of working and have an innovative approach to patient centred care and efficient service delivery. This service comprises of paediatric and adult patients with acute, chronic, and progressive conditions that affect feeding, swallowing, speech, and language. The SLT will be working with paediatric and adult patients across all medical specialities, including but not limited to neurosciences, stroke, community outpatient, senior health, trauma, respiratory, ENT, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, general paediatrics, PICU, oncology and surgery.
The post holder will independently manage, dependant on the specific rotation, an Adult orpaediatric caseload and provide specialist SLT knowledge, skills, and expertise to colleagues and support the SLT service as a whole. There will be opportunity to participate in weekly instrumental assessment clinics.
