Job summary

Band 7 Highly Specialised Occupational Therapist working within the Vascular and Surgery Team.

Main case load is with the Vascular cohort on Chesleden Ward.

This involves the assessment and treatment and early rehabilitation of predominantly lower limb amputees and a wider Surgery and Trauma cohort.

Main duties of the job

Ensure standards of excellent clinical practice are upheld and undertake responsibility to ensure adequate training has been completed by all members of the team.

Be responsible for the delegation of duties to the Therapy Technician and junior Therapists. Deliver training to ensure team members are adequately equipped to carry out assigned tasks.

Attend and chair meetings relevant to the patient care and discharge planning for patients admitted under Vascular and Surgery.

  • HPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD

  • oMinimum of 5 years post registration experience (2 years as a minimum at Band 6 level or equivalent).
  • oExperience of amputee rehabilitation.
  • oRelevant senior acute or rehabilitation experience in Medicine, Surgery or Amputees
  • oAdvanced manual handling experience- including amputee hoist slings.
  • oStaff /student supervision / IPR
  • oClinical teaching of OTs and MDT in local setting
  • oWorking with Social Services and other community resources
  • oExperience in service development
