Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join a large and dynamic Clinical Neuropsychology Department, to provide neuropsychology services at St George's Hospital London and at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton.
We are currently looking for a rotational band 7 clinical psychologist to join the Regional Neurosciences Centre and Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Services and St Georges Hospital, which provide neurorehabilitation across the entire pathway from hyper-acute, acute, post-acute, and in to the community. The post holder will be responsible for providing a neuropsychology service to adults with neurological conditions attending these services. The post holder will offer advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines and to other non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
Ideally the successful candidates will have experience of working with common mental health problems, neuropsychological assessment and neurorehabilitation.
The post holder will be required to rotate between the different services in order to gain skills in all aspects of applied neuropsychology. Therefore the post holder must be prepared to work at all sites within St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
To provide highly specialist clinical neuropsychology input to patients attending inpatient neurorehabilitation services and outpatient neuropsychology services. This will include neuropsychological assessments, as well as providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy and offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to other health professionals and non professional carers. The post holder will exercise autonomous professional responsibility for clinical decisions, working within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams' policies and procedures. In liaison with the neurorehabilitation MDT, the post holder will be expected to utilise their knowledge of evidence based psychological interventions and research skills to further develop neuropsychology and clinical psychology input to these services. The post holder will also be expected to identify and implement audit and research projects within the area served by the team/service.
