Phlebotomy Supervisor

Job summary

This role involves joint supervision of phlebotomy services and staff across 4 sites within the Wandsworth and Merton boroughs. Candidates will need to be flexible enough to cover for the other supervisors when required and forward thinking to help plan future provision.

Please note that due to our service commitment we do not offer flexible working.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic, reliable and flexible, to join our busy, friendly Phlebotomy Department .Previous experience in team leading, adult and paediatric venepuncture and excellent communication skills are essential.

Candidates will be responsible for performing audits and performance reviews of Band 2 and Band 3 phlebotomists.

About us

We are a large, friendly and diverse team made up of Phlebotomists, Senior Phlebotomists and Supervisors that currently provides an adult inpatient service and adult and paediatric outpatient services across sites in Tooting, Roehampton, Raynes Park and Battersea. We want to recruit another supervisor to complement and work on a rotational basis alongside the existing supervisors across all locations.

Our team works hard to provide patients with the phlebotomy services needed across the 2 local boroughs.

The main duties of the supervisor role is the responsibility, alongside existing supervisors, for ensuring the smooth operation of the various blood test rooms and making sure that appropriate support is deployed to clinics and wards as necessary.

This post requires commitment, motivation and a flexible approach to working hours and duties as well as the ability to work on own initiative and supervise a team, while also being able to follow instructions.

Hours of work will be 37.5 per week and are inclusive of working weekends and Bank Holidays as the department moves towards offering a full 7 day service. It is a requirement that staff are able to participate in rotation across all sites. We currently operate services from 07.00-20.00 and would require candidates to be able to cope with early morning starts or late finishes as necessary.
