Consultant Spinal Surgeon (with special interest in Paediatric Spine & Trauma)- 10 PA's
The Department of Neurosurgery at St George's Hospital is seeking to appoint aConsultant Spinal Surgeon with a special interest in Paediatric Spine and Trauma. This is a key role within a high-performing and expanding spinal service, supporting the delivery of complex, high-value care for children with spinal deformities and trauma.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team within one of the UK's busiest neurosurgical units, contributing to elective and emergency spinal surgery, MDTs, training, and service development. The role supports the Trust's commissioned specialist spinal services and plays a vital part in reducing waiting times and improving outcomes for a vulnerable patient group.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job
- The post is based in the Atkinson Morley Wing of St George's Hospital, with no additional, off-site working currently. If the Trust wishes to run any services from other Trust sites, the post-holder will be consulted and cross-cover care provided for the post-holder's inpatients.
- The post-holder will be expected to hold a weekly outpatient clinic and manage the inpatients under their care.
- The post-holder will participate in the combined Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spinal Service 1 in 9
- The post-holder will be expected to maintain their continuous professional development
- The post-holder will be expected to complete their annual appraisal and engage with the revalidation process
