Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Therapy Technician to join the Senior Health Therapy team at St George's Hospital. You will be responsible for supporting physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment, planning, and implementation of therapy interventions to meet senior health patient's needs. These patient's will include, but are not limited to, those who have delirium, dementia and frailty.
You will work under the direction and supervision of a qualified Therapist, assisting with both clinical and administrative duties to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service. Your role will involve working across senior health wards to support safe and effective rehabilitation and discharge planning and would be best suited to someone who is passionate about patient care, with strong communication skills and a team-focused approach. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a friendly, dynamic, and forward-thinking MDT.
Main duties of the job
Under the guidance and supervision of qualified therapists:
Assist with the assessment and treatment of patients on an individual and group basis.
Carry out delegated therapeutic activities/rehabilitation programmes as part of the patients designated treatment plan, observing patient's response to the treatment being received, liaising with the primary therapist.
Supervise patients in practicing and following through their rehabilitation programmes.
Assist with lifting/handling and moving patients in accordance with guidelines/ risk assessments.
Under the guidance and supervision to assist therapists with the resettlement of patients :
To accompany therapists on home visits including handling, transporting and installing equipment under direction.
To independently undertake follow-up visits under the direction and guidance of a qualified therapist.
To be able to recognise change in the condition of a patient with guidance from qualified Nursing staff/ Therapists.
To be responsible for maintaining accurate written records using SOAP recording system and use of computerised data collection including using any future electronic patient record system.
To demonstrate an awareness of clinical risk and to manage clinical risk within own caseload, including observing patients in all situations ensuring safety and security at all times.

The Senior Health Therapy team provide assessment, acute rehabilitation and discharge planning services for patients on Senior Health Wards.
