Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced neuro Speech and Language Therapist to join the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Centre SLT service based at Queen Mary's Hospital. The successful applicant will work with the Professional and Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist and the Lead Therapist for Neurosciences to implement and support service delivery of highly specialist, evidence based care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead the Speech and Language Therapists working in inpatient neurorehabilitation at Queen Mary's Hospital. They will have extensive experience working with neurological swallowing and communication disorders. The post holder will manage and advise on complex cases and be responsible for ensuring clinical governance and ongoing service innovations within the relevant clinical area. They will have experience in supervising, developing and managing others and will have advanced communication skills and be a strong team player. The post holder will work closely with the MDT, Principal SLTs in Neurorehabilitation at St George's Hospital and the Wolfson Outpatient Cognitive Rehabilitation Service and the wider SLT team. They will be joining a highly proficient, professional, patient centred and innovative Speech and Language Therapy department offering excellent support and well established CPD opportunities.

- Recognised speech and language therapy degree qualification or equivilent
- Health Professions Council - License to Practice
- Evidence of successful completion of Masters degree or specialist development and training such as Advanced Dysphagia, Tracheostomy management, FEES, aphasiology,CCD
- Experiential and advanced training as evidenced by highly structured self-directed study using regular appraisal of research & evidence base for specialist clinical area.
- Attendance at regular CEN group

- Significant post-qualification experience of working in the field of Neurology/ Neurosciences/ Neurorehabilitation
- Assessment ,treatment and management of highly complex clients with acquired neurological communication disorders; apraxia, aphasia, cognitive communication disorder, dysarthria
- Working with clients with highly complex dysphagia
- Coaching / developing reflective clinical practice in less experienced staff.
- Counselling in a supervisory role with staff, and rehabilitative/ supportive role with clients and carers
- Developing and delivering education and training packages.
- Advising/ providing second opinions.
- Clinical audit applying the principles of research methodology
