A great opportunity has arisen to gain experience working at the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Centre's level 1 inpatient neurorehabilitation service for people with cognitive, neurobehavioural and functional needs. The clinical neuropsychologist within the Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Service is a key and highly valued member of the interdisciplinary team, delivering holistic, comprehensive neuropsychological rehabilitation.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate for this post will have doctorate level training in clinical psychology and the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) or equivalent is desirable. The post-holder will be required to conduct neuropsychological diagnostic assessments, cognitive and neurobehavioural rehabilitation, and work effectively as an interdisciplinary team member to design and deliver bespoke rehabilitation plans. With the supervision and guidance from a principal clinical neuropsychologist, the post-holder will be responsible for supervising a band 7 clinical psychologist and assistant psychologists to deliver neuropsychology input across the inpatient level 1 and level 2 rehabilitation programmes. Experience of delivering cognitive rehabilitation, working in inpatient neurorehabilitation settings and experience treating functional neurological conditions are desirable. The post will be based at the Wolfson Centre, Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton, but the post-holder may be required to treat patients in their own homes or any relevant community setting, which could be anywhere in the greater London region.
About us
The post-holder will be a member of the Department of Psychological Professions, which includes all psychologists working for the Trust in neuropsychology services across the whole pathway from acute care to the community. Clinical health psychology posts within the department also provide services to chronic pain, renal, haematology, trauma and orthopaedics. Collectively, there is access to guidance and consultation with experts in most areas that impact neuropsychological well-being. The department is committed to research, continuing professional development (e.g. candidates working towards QiCN will be actively supported to obtain the qualification during this post) and career progression. Therefore, we offer rotational opportunities to all our 8a staff group to enable them to gain the breadth of experience necessary to obtain the QiCN. The department has excellent links with St George's Hospital Medical School and the University of Surrey. As a teaching hospital we actively support all staff to contribute to teaching and training in their field of expertise both nationally and internationally.
