Job summary
To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to outpatients, plastics, women's health, hand therapy patients and GP clinics. The post-holder may be required to work across St George's Hospital, St Johns Therapy Centre, Queen Mary's Roehampton and Primary carelocations.
Key Working Relationships
To develop and maintain close working relationships with physiotherapy colleagues, referring clinicians and other disciplines within St George's Healthcare Trust and neighbouring ICBs.
Main duties of the job
? To undertake a specialised musculoskeletal assessment of patients including those withcomplex presentations and from this assessment formulate a treatment plan and carriesout this treatment as an autonomous practitioner.? To supervise and teach recently qualified physiotherapists/physiotherapystudents/assistants and other members of the MDT.? To undertake evidence-based projects, including making recommendations for change inpractice and participating in departmental research and audit as appropriate.? To deputise for physiotherapy team leaders in operational management.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- oDegree or equivalent in physiotherapy
- oHCPC registration.

- oCurrent CPD within musculoskeletal speciality and physiotherapy profession.
Clinical knowledge and skills
Essential
- oSystematic assessment of common musculoskeletal conditions including spinal and peripheral presentations with sound clinical reasoning based on the biopsychosocial model and formulation of primary hypothesis with consideration of differential diagnosis.
- oAble to competently assess for sinister or non-MSK diagnosis and evidence escalation/action as required using local pathways and national guidance.
- oDevelop holistic, patient centred management plans that incorporate shared decision making and appropriate signposting/referrals for support with psychological or social factors
- oSkilled delivery of exercise prescription for the management of musculoskeletal conditions in 1:1 and class settings with available resources and knowledge of behaviour change techniques
- oAble to demonstrate adaptive written, verbal and non-verbal communication with patients at all stages of their care including the communication of complex concepts i.e. persistent pain
- oCompetent at manual techniques including orthopaedic testing, general handling, and manual therapy with awareness current evidence-based practice

- oProviding treatment to patients from diverse backgrounds and ensuring where possible, equity in treatment.

- oPrevious experience at band 6 (or equivalent) level in relevant clinical speciality.
- oPrevious experience of working in an NHS setting or equivalent.
- oDeputise for team lead where needed in meetings and management of operational tasks i.e. sickness reporting.
