Job summary

This post replaces an existing post already established in Paediatric respiratory services following retirement but can be tailored to a candidates special interests. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our service and to complement the current team of three friendly and cohesive consultants. The post is offered at 10 PA but we will consider applicants wishing to work less than full time depending on service needs.

The post holder will contribute to the general respiratory and asthma service. They will take on some responsibility for children on Long Term Ventilation and be encouraged to develop specific areas of interest in line with their experience and the needs of the department.

Main duties of the job

The aim of this post is to contribute to the increasing ambulatory and inpatient capacity of the service at St Georges and further develop the service and its research profile. The post holder will receive referrals from other consultants and specialties, from PICU and NICU, and from General Practice. These will be seen as either inpatients or outpatients as appropriate. Patients may be local or from outside the region. There is a 1:4 attending rota for respiratory ward cover with out of hours telephone support. There postholder would not contribute to the general paediatric service. The post holder would be fully responsible for the management of respiratory patients within their expertise and in conjunction with other members of the team and the wider MDT. The service is supported by comprehensive radiological support, physiology including full lung function and sleep, bronchoscopy and thoracic surgery.
