Job summary
Band 6 Specialised Occupational Therapist working within the Vascular and Surgery Team.
Main case load is with the Vascular cohort on Chesleden Ward.
This involves the assessment and treatment and early rehabilitation of predominantly lower limb amputees.
The post sits on the General Occupational Therapy rotation: the post-holder leads the assessment and treatment for a range of patients admitted under STAR, MAU, Cardiac & Renal, Haem-Oncology, Hand Therapy, Amputee Rehab, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Ortho-Geriatrics, Vascular & Surgery
Main duties of the job
Ensure standards of excellent clinical practice are upheld and undertake responsibility to ensure adequate training has been completed by all members of the team.
Be responsible for the delegation of duties to the Therapy Technician and junior Therapists. Deliver training to ensure team members are adequately equipped to carry out assigned tasks.
Attend and chair meetings relevant to the patient care and discharge planning for patients admitted under Vascular and Surgery.

- oDiploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
- oHPC Registration
- oContinued Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice, and clinical experience gained

- o18 months post-qualification Occupational Therapy clinical experience, at least a year of which must have been in an acute setting.
- o1 year's previous NHS experience either as a qualified Occupational Therapist (substantive or locum) or as an undergraduate Occupational Therapy Student
- oWorking as part of a MDT team within a clinical environment
- oDelegation to support staff.
- oExperience of general assessment and intervention with patients in a physical setting (e.g. medical, surgical, trauma and orthopaedics and neurology patients).
