Job summary

- You will need to be a registered nurse and ideally demonstrate previous Oncology/Haematology experience, evidence of the administration of IV medications and chemotherapy is desired.
- Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are also desirable, however full training will be given. In addition, you will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.
- The post holder will have excellent opportunities for professional and personal development in a well-resourced environment, with support from the unit's haemato-oncology practice educator. We will support and encourage you to achieve your potential as a nurse.
- You will need to have the ability to plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients in a responsible and efficient way, which has been drawn up in conjunction with the co-ordinator of the shift
- To develop a greater awareness and understanding of the needs of patients with cancer and the different treatment modalities administered within the unit.
- To develop an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of managing a shift with the guidance of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.

- An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly haemato-oncology ward at St Georges Hospital, on a full-time permanent basis.
- This ward cares for patients with a variety of haematological disorders. The department works with a team of specialist consultants and nurses who collectively provide a comprehensive service covering diagnosis, treatment, palliative care, and end of life care. Gordon Smith is a 12 bedded unit that treat haematological /Oncological disorders .
- We also have CNS's associated with blood cancers, solid tumours and bleeding disorders as well having a research team conducting trials.
