Job summary
- How would you like to come and work in a dynamic and forward thinking Endoscopy & Minor Ops Unit at the Nelson Health Centre, as part of St George's NHS Trust?
- You will work with the friendly multidisciplinary team in providing patient centred care for patients undergoing oral gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, transnasal endoscopy, cystoscopy and plastic surgery day case procedures.
- As a Unit which has received 'Platinum' in Trust accreditation, we pride ourselves on putting our patients first and provide a supportive environment for staff training.
- You will be based at The Nelson Health Centre, but you can have the opportunity to work at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton and St George's Hospital in Tooting.
- The primary aim of the Endoscopy & Minor Ops Unit is to provide an effective, comprehensive, high quality endoscopy and minor operations service for those patients assessed as suitable for day case treatment in a community setting.
- The Unit was designed around the patient's experience, providing a relaxed and calming environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Main duties of the job
We pride ourselves on putting our patients first and provide a supportive environment for staff for training. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic person to work in the role of an Endoscopy Decontamination Technician. You will be responsible for reprocessing instruments and providing high quality support to the registered nurses, multidisciplinary team and patients.
You will be expected to work in a collaborative and supportive environment with members of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will need to carry out care and treatment tasks, delegated from professionally qualified staff, requiring a wide range of technical ability, numeracy and literacy skills as well as a significant level of interpersonal skills and manual dexterity.You should have either previous health care assistant experience or level III NVQ in Care or show a willingness to learn. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to prioritise a workload in the face of competing demands. You will be a strong team player, self motivated and able to keep a level head in a demanding and constantly changing environment.
