Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Job summary

We have a permanent post available working in Greenmead Special School as a specialist Speech and Language Therapist. Greenmead is a nursery and primary school for children with learning and physical needs where we have a large team with OTs and SLTs across all bandings. We also have skilled MTAs and admin support. On site are a team of nurses who we work closely with to support the pupils. We are a team with an inclusive culture to ensure that all staff feel valued, respected and empowered.

You will need:

  • Experience of and specialist skills working with a diverse paediatric caseload especially those which a range of complex needs
  • Dysphagia competent to work independently with some supervision from senior therapists.
  • Experience of and specialist skills working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Developed clinical skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary
  • Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative

Main duties of the job

  • Specialist assessment, management and treatment of children with a range of communication and dysphagia needs.
  • Provision of SLT services for a pre-school and primary special school age population
  • Support and supervision of SLT students and junior staff
  • Opportunities to join working parties to develop your skills in service development

About us

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, St George's Hospital and Queen Mary's Hospital, and many health clinics across the Wandsworth borough.

The Children's Therapy team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. Therapists work in multi-disciplinary/multi agency teams across the borough of Wandsworth.
