Neonatal Senior Staff Nurse

Job summary

  • To provide excellent individualised and unsupervised nursing care.
  • To utilise and further develop advanced clinical specialist skills in order to provide the highest standard of individualised patient care.
  • The post holder will play a key role in the nursing team toprovide a quality family centred and supportive environment where parents/carers can learn to care for their babies.
  • To utilise a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with family/carers, the multidisciplinary team and pertinent agencies outside the organisation.
  • To actively participate in and contribute to the management of the clinical area.
  • To act as a mentor, teaching and supervising junior staff including, student nurses, student midwives, and health care support workers.

Main duties of the job

  • St George's Neonatal Unit is a perinatal medical and surgical referral centre, covering the South West London sector and beyond.
  • The unit has a capacity of 40 cots, 12 of which are intensive care, 12 high dependency and 16 special care.
  • The service has a large workforce of 200 staff with nursing roles ranging from Neonatal Assistants to Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners.
  • Following recent internal promotions, exciting opportunities are now available for prospective Band 6 nurses to join our thriving team.
  • You will need a minimum of 6 months experience post completion of an accredited neonatal course. In return we can offer you a wide breadth of experience as you progress your neonatal career.
  • There will also be an opportunity for you to visit the ward and meet with the department!
