Neurodevelopment Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job summary

The clinical nurse specialist (CNS) will be a core member of the community Pediatric multi-disciplinary team promoting the health and wellbeing of children/ young people presenting with neurodevelopmental delay.

The CNS will work in a variety of settings, offering advice / support / assessment and intervention to children and their families who meet the service criteria working closely with the Community Paediatrician's. Deliver follow up nurse led clinics

Main duties of the job

To provide professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the specialty of neurodevelopment and to act as a resource for education and clinical expertise in hospital and community settings.

To liaise effectively with members of the multi-professional healthcare team to achieve a coordinated specialist service.

To provide a range of quality therapeutic interventions in accordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the MDT and in conjunction with the other local services, such as WAAS.

Work as a member of the Community Paediatrics' team contributing to service coordination care for children who have a neurodevelopmental condition/complex health condition and their families.

Support the Community Pediatrician's to deliver the Neurodevelopmental service (up to 18 years) and review of response to treatment and interventions, including liaison with the MDT on medication

  • RSCN/RN child or RN Learning disabilities
  • BSc Qualification

Desirable

  • Post Reg, qualification in Neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Wester Stratten Parent &Child training qualification
  • Nurse Prescriber or be willing to undertake training

Experience

Essential

  • experience in a specialist practitioner role working with children with neurodevelopmental issues such as ADHD and ASD
  • Experience of planning, managing and coordinating programs of care in collaboration with other allied health professionals, social, education and volunteer agencies
  • Experience caring autonomously for complex children and families
