An exciting opportunity has arisen within the South West Thames Regional Genomics Centre for a Cancer Genetics Patient Pathway Coordinator to join our friendly administrative team.

The Patient Pathway Coordinator (PPC) will work as part of the Clinical Genetics Administration Team, providing professional administrative support to the Genetics Clinical and Genetic Counsellor Teams, being the point of contact for internal and external partners including GPsurgeries, Consultants, Primary Care Teams, based locally and those within our region

About us

The South West Thames Regional Genetics Service was established at St George's Hospital in 1986 and has expanded greatly over the last 25 years. The Regional Genetics Service serves a population of almost 4 million. The service is based in Jenner Wing, St George's University of London. The clinical service is provided through specialist, general and cancer clinics at St George's Hospital and in a number of local district general hospitals across the region. This network of central and peripheral clinics provides comprehensive coverage across the region. The service is one of two clinical genetics services within the South East Genomic Medicine Service Alliance, which is co-led by St George's and Guy's and St Thomas's NHS Foundation Trusts.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be expected to assist with various administrative tasks in the department. You will work closely with various referrers, developing and providing collaborative multidisciplinary services to best support our patients.

This post requires an individual with a strong administrative background in healthcare and service development. Experience working across primary and secondary care services or clinical genetics would be welcome.

You will need to have experience in the proactive management of patient pathways from referral to discharge, ensuring that the entire process runs smoothly.

This is an interesting and varied role and would suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment who can prioritise their workload, form good working relationships with a variety of clinical and non-clinical staff, as well as being a point of contact for patients.

You will need good organisational and time management skills and possess the ability to use your own initiative. You should calm, confident, able to communicate effectively and be able to prioritise your workload.

Candidates must have a good level of education, comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and be enthusiastic, efficient, and motivated.
