Job summary

  • We are a busy ambulatory unit seeing children from 0-18 years.
  • You will be completing nurse led assessments for babies with jaundice.
  • Providing direct nursing care and acting as an advocate for children and their families.
  • To keep up to date with training and attending related courses to help you in your practice.
  • Shift leading as well as supporting the ward manager.

Main duties of the job

  • Assessing patients and being confident in venepuncture and cannulation.
  • Supporting junior staff and students.
  • Manage the department in the absence of the Lead nurse.
  • Support and deal with patients, parents, relatives and care givers, being sensitive to their needs for dignity, privacy and ensuring a friendly environment.
  • Keeping accurate documentation.
  • Escalating concerns if a child is unwell.
