Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic 8a Clinical Psychologist to join our Major Trauma Centre at St George's Hospital. This unique role provides an opportunity to work with children and young people who have sustained serious and life changing injuries. The clinical work is with the CYP themselves, their families and the staff who work in the Major Trauma Centre. The post holder will work across both inpatient and outpatient settings covering critical care and surgical specialties. They will have the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team where psychology is valued and well established. Alongside an active clinical role, the post holder will need to shape psychological care pathways within the Major Trauma Centre as part of the Integrated Psychological Model of Care pilot and to work closely with the Pan-London Trauma network. There is a particular need to think about the service delivered to young people who are victims of community violence so that this vulnerable group have better access to psychological care. Main duties of the job

The post holder will offer specialist psychological support to children and young people who are under the care of the Major Trauma Centre, ensuring a timely and equitable response to new referrals, robust screening of distress and the chance to offer specialist psychological intervention where appropriate. There are many opportunities, alongside the inpatient and outpatient work for staff teaching, training and consultation.

The majority of the face-to-face clinical work takes place on the surgical wards and in paediatric intensive care. There are opportunities to work creatively to deliver effective clinical psychology interventions.
