Job summary

  • We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse within cardiac surgery high dependency unit at St. George's Hospital.
  • We are a 4 bedded unit that cares for patients post cardiac surgery.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the management of nursing staff working on the Benjamin Weir Cardiac Surgery High Dependency Unit and the provision of expert clinical practice in the management and care of cardiac surgery patients requiring enhanced care.
  • The position will allow the successful candidate to join our existing established and highly motivated team of experienced HDU nurses to lead our service and promote a high standard of care.

Main duties of the job

  • We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic about implementing change and can motivate and generate ideas.
  • As a Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse you will be instrumental in the day to day running of the unit
  • You will also lead a team to manage service improvement projects to raise standards of patient care.
  • You will also work closely with the cardiac surgeons and cardiac intensive care unit staff.
  • This post requires motivation, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills and demonstration of people management skills.
