Job summary
We have an exciting new role in the Respiratory Physiology and Ventilation team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for a highly skilled Healthcare professional who is dynamic, passionate and has hands on experience in long term ventilation.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to lead the NIV service working with consultants, physiologists, clinical scientists, physiotherapists, nurses, and carers. There will be several ventilation clinics per week including home visits and providing outreach to neighbouring hospitals and hospices.
You will be required to initiate and monitor patients on long term ventilation and be part of the acute ventilation MDT and ward round for a plethora of conditions including neuromuscular disease, COPD, obesity, and chest wall conditions.
There will be opportunities for service development, research, and audit and teaching in respiratory conditions and ventilation to the wider team.
The successful candidate will need to be an experienced, friendly, and highly motivated person with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to providing a high-quality service is essential.

Essential
- 2 years experience as a Band 6 in a ventilation service.
- Professional registration (HCPC/NMC)
- Experience in long term and ambulatory oxygen therapy
- Clinical Assessment Skills course qualification
- Honors degree or equivalent
Desirable
- Non-medical prescriber
- Recent experience caring for patients with respiratory / neuromuscular disease in acute and community settings.
- Experience in managing patients with respiratory failure.
- Able to undertake and interpret spirometry
Organisational Management
Essential
- Able to work effectively as an individual and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Well organised and able to prioritise own workload and that of others.
- Evidence of implementing innovation or having responsibility for part of service delivery.
