Job summary

Provide expert advice within the Trust on all aspects of resuscitation and early recognition of the deteriorating patient.

Demonstrate high quality resuscitation skills and credibility to those who require training and advice.

Help plan and develop training within the Trust and community, based on current guidelines and best practice.

Take initiative to help lead and develop resuscitation services for Trust and Community settings.

Assist to form policies and procedures related to all aspects of resuscitation throughout the Trust.and community

Audit all cardiac arrest/peri arrest calls and submit to the National Cardiac Arrest Audit as appropriate. Interpret and report results, and plan care/training needs around the analysis

Report equipment/training, Do Not Attempt Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and/ or ReSPECT/Co-ordinate my Care audits at appropriate Governance Meetings

Deputise where needed for the Resuscitation Manager.

Be able to work autonomously within the resuscitation department/community on a day to day basis using initiative and prioritisation/decision making skills.

Main duties of the job

Attend daily cardiac arrest team meeting when not training. Encourage introductions, preallocation of roles and identify any learning needs or site issues.

Attend emergency calls and participate as part of the cardiac arrest team when possible.

Provide expert advice and support to all levels of clinical staff during cardiac/peri-arrests and medical emergencies - escalate concerns appropriately.

Facilitate and participate in hot and cold debrief opportunities following emergency events.

Contact switchboard daily to follow up 2222 calls and enter cardiac arrest data into audit.

Identify any concerns and provide support as necessary.Maintain a high clinical profile in the Trust.

Provide knowledge, advice, support and guidance to ensure best evidence based resuscitation practice to all Trust staff, in accordance to NMC Code of Conduct (or equivalent regulatory body) Trust and community policies, and RCUK guidelines.

Keep resuscitation Instructorship up to date and comply with regulations related to personal development and advanced courses.

Be fully conversant with the operation of all resuscitation training equipment used within the Trust and community both clinical and in training.

Collect and analyse data from defibrillators following cardiac arrest events to use in datadriven debrief where possible.

  • BSc or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Post registration qualification e.g. Critical Care
  • Completed or working towards masters level degree
