This post is suitable for Specialist Registrars (or equivalent) seeking to specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of paediatric otolaryngology patients. Extensive independent operating experience including standard Paediatric ENT surgical cases and a desire to provide excellent service to patients is essential.
To provide a point of access and contact for Paediatric ENT referrals from both within the Trust and referring Hospitals. Managing outpatient, preoperative, operative and post-operative care, audit, research, administration, ward rounds and general ENT on call duties.
The post-holder will be eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council. He/she will hold the FRCS (Otolaryngology) or equivalent. He/she will have completed a period of training in ENT recognised by a Royal College Surgeons (or equivalent) and ideally have obtained CCT prior to taking up this post. The post isnotrecognised for pre-CCT training.

Main duties of the job
The fellow will provide support to the consultants in Paediatric Otolaryngology at the level of an experienced specialist registrar. The fellow will be expected to play a major role in the delivery of Paediatric ENT services, including the managing the referral service for children with Paediatric ENT conditions from both within and outside the Hospital with daily monitoring of the urgent paediatric ENT email box. The fellow (Registrar) will conduct outpatient clinics including Paediatric ENT Emergency clinics,operating sessions, carry out daily ward rounds on the NICU, PICU and Paediatric wards, work closely with the admissions coordinator to plan and manage operating lists and run monthly MDT Radiology meetings. The fellow is expected to supervise junior doctors on the wards. All sessions will be undertaken with the supervision and support of the consultants, but the exact degree of supervision provided will be tailored to the needs and experience of the postholder. The fellow will be expected to work with nurses, junior medical staff and colleagues in other paediatric disciplines.
The appointee will participate in a shared on call with the adult Otolaryngology
