Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Inpatient Assistant Service Manager in Surgery (General surgery, ENT, Max Fax and Dental). The post will be of interest to those who wish to pursue a career in hospital management and would like to gain more experience in busy services with a wide variety of challenges. The posts will provide an extensive opportunity to build and develop skills required to move forward to a more senior role. The successful candidates will be joining a supportive, forward thinking department which values team work and a positive approach

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with good experience of operational management, ideally within the NHS, who is enthusiastic, willing to learn and has a positive approach to challenges. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate that you can lead and motivate a team, as well as build relationships with a variety of professionals. You will need to liaise with patients of all ages, clinicians at all levels and managers within the Trust and at external organisations. Time management and prioritasation skills are also essential as you will need to balance the demands of a very busy workload. We are looking for someone who thrives in a busy and pressured environment, who uses their initiative and thinks outside the box.
