The NIHR St George's Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as theCRF Patient and Public Involvement, Engagement, and Participation (PPIEP) Lead. Our Clinical Research Facility supports a wide range of clinical trials across medical specialties such as Infectious Diseases, Hepatology, Genetics, and Neurology, among others.
This role is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with our multidisciplinary research teams to shape and develop PPIEP initiatives. You'll play a key role in raising awareness of research at St George's and within local communities, while working to expand and diversify the groups involved in research.
At St George's, research is a top priority, both in building an exceptional research infrastructure and in recruiting participants for research studies. Our diverse research portfolio includes early-phase studies conducted right here in our NIHR Clinical Research Facility.
Main duties of the job
The Patient/Public Involvement, Engagement & Participation (PPIEP) Lead will support the NIHR St Georges Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and the Joint Research and Enterprise Service (JRES) in developing key patient and public involvement initiatives in line with the NIHR CRF objectives and the Trust Research Strategy.
The role will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of involvement and engagement activities that is effective and embedded within the daily business of the CRF and across all Trust clinical research.
The post holder will work with the clinical research teams based the CRF and other departments within the Trust, and on wider joint research initiatives with our research partners.
The role will focus on providing a support and management service for researchers/clinical research projects to enable the CRF to achieve is targets in relation to PPIEP.
They will develop a programme of research stakeholder events lead the work in building relationships with local communities and community champions.
A priority will be to support the CRF's Patient/Public Steering Group, which is made up of members representing local communities and patient groups. This group will provide advice to the CRF's management board on the work of the CRF, including how to improve engagement with patients and the public, remove barriers to participation and increase the diversity of trial participants.
