Job summary
This post is a Specialist Speech and language therapist in voice and upper airway disorders. The post holder is responsible for the assessment, management and treatment of their own caseload of patients with clinical voice disorders. The post holder will be expected to have a sound knowledge of Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) assessment and management of dysphonia and dysphagia. They support the urgent surgical voice pathway ensuring these patient get timely access to SLT pre and post surgery. Paediatric voice is also supported by this post
Main duties of the job
The post provides clinical service to the general voice caseload along with the urgent surgical voice pathway, paediatrics, respiratory and group voice care pathways
- The post is required to input into the multidisciplinary management of complex voice and swallowing impairments.
- The post holder's expertise and input helps to support patient recovery and rehabilitation which in turn helps reduce secondary complications and ongoing care needs
- The post holder provides clinical support to junior staff including SLT Assistants and students
The post holder is jointly responsible for a large proportion of the non clinical administration tasks within the team including triaging, clinic booking and group co-ordination
