This is an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced, highly motivated pharmacy Technician looking to further advance their career and develop leadership, technical and clinical skills within Technical Services at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic senior pharmacy technician to make a difference and ensure the best outcomes for the patients served by the Technical Services department. The post holder will work to ensure the continued provision and development of high quality, comprehensive technical pharmacy service to patients. We will provide the successful candidate with a comprehensive induction covering all aspects of Trust work, support from senior pharmacy staff and an environment to develop further.

The Pharmacy Service at St George's is highly regarded across the Trust, with over 250 staff members working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding with opportunities for personal and service development including further postgraduate education.

Main duties of the job

Key activities of the post holder will be to:

o Support the Lead Technical Services Technician to manage the operational aspects of Technical Services including CIVAS, Cytotoxic services, PN and Non-sterile services in line with national standards.o Train pharmacy technicians and assistants in Technical Services.o Contribute to the current processes to provide a framework for actively ensuring Technical Services is run to the highest standards of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), in line with MHRA licensed unit requirements and Regional (SPS) QA guidance.o Support the Pharmacy Technical Services team and the QA department in maintaining a complete and accurate Quality Management System.

The successful applicant will enjoy working in a busy challenging environment, be able to manage multiple priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. You will have good communication skills and be an enthusiastic educator. The ability to work autonomously and with a high level of accountability is essential

  • NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 plus an accredited underpinning knowledge (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences)
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPHC)
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice

Desirable

  • Diploma in Management Studies

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of management in a Section 10 or MHRA licensed unit.
  • Experience of planning, organising and delivering training
  • Experience of maintaining QMS including QERs, CAPAs and Risk assessments
  • Experience of working within a role involving multidisciplinary communication
  • Experience of identifying and managing risks in a pharmacy technical services setting
  • Experience of supervising and managing staff / teams
  • Experience in the writing of Standard Operating Procedures.

Desirable

  • Experience in validation of new systems or equipment within pharmacy technical services
  • Experience of external audits i.e. Regional (SPS) QA
