Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Physician Associates providing care for patients in General Surgery. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for providing assistance to Consultant Surgeons and Specialist Registrars in the provision of high-quality care within the department. We will expect you to participate in all aspects of the patient pathway and perform duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

You will be trained to assess and examine patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations, and recommend treatment. Additionally you will be expected to liaise with other professionals and specialities as required and complete necessary documentation relating to their patients. You will be supervised by a designated consultant of the week and will also have individual mentors to overview their career development.

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience in general medicine
  • Experience of working in an acute and demanding clinical setting.
  • Ability to work cohesively within the multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Demonstrate interest in General Surgery.
  • Experience of designing audit/projects and research.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BA/BS Degree prior to undertaking PA program
  • PG Dip/Masters in Physician Associate Studies from a UK training programme
  • Current and valid certification by the Physician Associate National Examination
  • Member of the FPARCP and on the PAMVR at the time of commencing the post

Desirable

  • ILS/ALS certification

  • Awareness of current developments and initiatives in medicine.

  • Verbal and written communication skills.
