Job summary
The Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientist plays a critical role in the cardiovascular surgical team, responsible for operating and managing cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machines and other extracorporeal circulation devices. This position involves ensuring optimal oxygenation and circulation during surgeries that require heart and lung support, typically during open-heart surgeries. The Senior Perfusionist also leads and trains junior staff, contributes to research and development, and ensures compliance with clinical guidelines.
Main duties of the job
As an experienced and autonomous practitioner to lead by example and actas a role model to provide clinical and professional perfusion services to the multi disciplinary team. The post holder will participate fully in the development of the team, organising facilities and staff to enable the clinical group to meet its contractual and professional targets.
In addition the Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientist will be responsible for contributing to the provision of perfusion services to St Georges Healthcare. The post holder will also be assisting in the development of the department and the education and training of the perfusion team as well as ensuring continued professional development
