GESH Learning Disability Liaison Nurse (EStH)

Job summary

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Learning Disability team based at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals on a fixed term or secondment basis.
  • You will be based between Epsom & St Helier Hospitals.
  • We are an established team who provide expert, caring flexible and holistic support to patients with a diagnosed Learning Disability receiving inpatient or outpatient care at our busy Acute Trust.
  • We are looking for a qualified learning disability nurse who has knowledge and experience of working with people with learning disabilities and a good understanding of health issues.
  • This is a clinically facing role and as such you are expected to be on site. Interviews will be face to face only.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to:

  • Provide clinical assessments and intervention for people with learning disabilities, working closely with the Lead Nurse for LD and within the existing skilled safeguarding team.
  • Work in a rewarding, challenging and developing service, which offers the candidate the opportunity to extend their assessment skills and knowledge, particularly in a Hospital setting.
  • Review and initiate developments to enhance the quality of services for patients with learning disabilities and their carers and families
  • Be willing to develop your knowledge and skills in a supportive environment. Candidates must have an understanding of current health and social care issues which affect people with learning disabilities. You will need to be able to work within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Successful participants will receive an induction programme, with support from the LD Lead. The post sits within the wider Safeguarding Adults team at the Trust.
