Advanced Biomedical Support Worker - Cellular Pathology (Band 3)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, Advanced Biomedical Support Worker, Band 3 to join the Cellular Pathology Team at St George's Hospital, Tooting.

Candidates will have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to work alongside other Biomedical Support Workers and Biomedical Scientists as part of a team.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo training and provide a service at any of the Trust sites.

Candidates will be required to work on a roster once fully trained and competent.

Main duties of the job

Cellular Pathology

This post is based at St George's Hospital however you may be required to work at any of the South West London Pathology sites as and when necessary. An opportunity has arisen within the Cellular Pathology Department for a full time Advanced Biomedical Support Worker . We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working person to work closely with laboratory staff in our busy but friendly department.

Duties will include supervising our team of Biomedical Support Workers, maintaining laboratory equipment, aiding laboratory staff in some aspects of technical work, entry of patient data onto the pathology computer system and assisting medical staff with diagnostic tissue handling of operative specimens. Good literacy, biological science, numeracy and communication skills are required; keyboard skills would be an advantage.

You should have the ability to work as part of a team and to manage your own workload. Previous experience of medical terminology and data entry in a diagnostic pathology environment would be advantageous.
