Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the physiotherapy service to employ Band 7 physiotherapists to join a thriving Neurosciences service based at St George's Hospital, Tooting, Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton and Wandsworth Community Services.

The Neurosciences rotation includes Neurosurgery, Tertiary Neurology and NeuroOutreach, Acute stroke (HASU and ASU), Neuro-Outpatients and Wolfson Neurorehabilitation Services - Neuro-Trauma / Neuro-rehabilitation Inpatients at St George's Hospital, Tooting, and Inpatients and Outpatients, Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton.

The Neurosciences and Therapies directorates are dynamic and innovative, and champion new ideas and developments from all team members. All services are formed of forward thinking, highly skilled and experienced Band 8a therapists with a range of specialisms across all domains of Neurotherapies and supported by the Therapy Consultants, Lead Therapies for Neurosciences, Chief AHP and General Manager for Therapies.

We are strongly committed to evidence based practice, continuing professional and personal development as well as service development. There is a well-established in-service education programme and you will participate in this programme as part of your CPD.

Main duties of the job

Undertakes advanced neurorespiratory assessment of patients including those with highly complex presentations and from this formulates a diagnosis and treatment plan which is carried out as an autonomous practitioner.

Takes a lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of therapists, therapy assistants, undergraduate therapy students (including those at Masters level) and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Responsible for operational management and overall development of designated team especially in regard to all aspects of clinical governance and deputises for Neurosciences Principal Therapist (band 8a) as required.

Initiates and participates in evidence based projects and is responsible for implementing changes within designated team/area and setting and monitoring standards of practice.
