Job summary
The department is one of the busiest outpatient specialties in the Trust, with over 40,000 attendances per year and currently has 14 Consultant Dermatologists in post and 8 trainee/registrar level doctors.
The department undertakes assessment and treatment for a variety of acute and chronic Dermatological Conditions including: melanoma & non-melanoma skin cancers, inflammatory skin disease, pigmented lesions, paediatric dermatology, eczema, psoriasis, hyperhidrosis, leg ulcers, vulva skin disease, allergic contact dermatitis, acute skin conditions, vasculitis skin disease, bullous skin disease, complex acute and chronic wounds.
The post holder will be expected to work on any of the following sites: St Georges Hospital, Queen Mary's Roehampton and The Nelson, Wimbledon.
- To lead the Dermatology nursing workforce on 3 sites to ensure they are meeting local service needs.
- To run relevant nurse led clinics and manage the dermatology units across Trust sites
- To develop strategies alongside the Care Group Lead to promote Nurse led clinics.
- To ensure nurses are developed to assist in minor surgery and Mohs surgery
- Be an expert in the Dermatology nursing field
- Accountability for the budget for the Dermatology nursing and work alongside the Care Group Lead and Service Manager for CIPs.

Main duties of the job
- Our 3 units incorporate a day care phototherapy treatment centre and minor operating theatres providing dermatological surgery and photodynamic treatment.
- The team is led by the Care Group Lead for Dermatology and Lymphoedema responsible for a group of consultants, Associate Specialist, SpRs and other junior medical staff.
- This post holder will lead a group of full-time and part-time nursing staff including band 7 clinical nurse specialists, band 6 junior clinical nurse specialist, staff nurses, phototherapy technician and health care assistants.

Acne clinics.
Minor skin surgery.
Drug monitoring clinics.
DCP/ wart clinic.
Intralesional steroid injection clinic.
Cryotherapy wart clinic.
Virtual clinics (including biopsy results).
Botox injections for hyperhidrosis.
Skin cancer result clinic with Keyworker role /Skin cancer follow up clinics.
Eczema & Psoriasis Education clinic.
Biologics clinics.
Other relevant clinics related to job role.

- An advanced practitioner either through formal qualifications and or extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area at MSc level with Masters degree or working towards one
- Dermatology Nursing post registration Course e.g. Dermatology N25
- Phototherapy Course - other reputable organisation, Gwent or St Johns
- Leadership RCN course or equivalent
- Relevant post-registration Dermatology training/experience in PDT, Skin lesion recognition, phototherapy, Dermoscopy
