Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Maxillofacial Prosthetist to join our dynamic Maxillofacial Laboratory .
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be required to undertake a wide range of work so it is therefore desired they already possess a range of skills and experience in Maxillofacial Prosthetics although local training will be provided. The successful applicant will be expected to have had some experience in the following areas of Maxillofacial Prosthetics:
Orthognathic planning & appliances
Trauma splints and appliances
Conventional facial prosthetics
Custom made silicone implants
3D design softwares, printers, and technologies
Cranioplasty implants
Intra-oral implant prosthetics
Implants retained facial prosthetics
Clinical & technical knowledge of obturation
Consideration will be given to applicants who have proven experience in Dental Technology who have gained experience in some of the above services and those who are in the process of applying to sit their IMPT AIB interview in the near future.

St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Maxillofacial Laboratory has a vacancy for a permanent, highly skilled and experienced Maxillofacial Prosthetist to join their team. Applicants must be in possession of approved qualifications in Maxillofacial Prosthetics & Technology. Membership of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists & Technologists is desirable.
The Maxillofacial Laboratory at St George's Hospital provides a wide range of medical devices and appliances to large multidisciplinary teams within the St George's UHNHSFT.
St George's Hospital has excellent travel links with Tooting Broadway and the Northern Line a short walk from the hospital. Essential
- BSc Dental Technology or BTEC Diploma Dental Technology
- Minimum full Membership of the Institute of Prosthetists & Technologists (MIMPT)
- MSc Maxillofacial & Craniofacial Technology or Diploma in Professional Studies (Dental Technology) or HNC/HND in Maxillofacial Technology. or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 2-3yrs post qualification experience in Maxillofacial Prosthetics working in a multidisciplinary hospital environment.
- Experience in intra and extra oral implant techniques
Desirable
- Experience in the use of 3D techniques and technology for the construction of custom made devices, models, and prototypes
- Some experience as a Lead Specialist in one or more Maxillofacial Prosthetic services
- Experience of maxillary obturation (both clinical and technical)
Knowledge

- Knowledge of the methods of construction for a full range of Maxillofacial devices, appliances and prostheses, trauma splints as well as intra and extra oral implant systems
