Job summary
The posts contribute to the work of the team including assessment of patients in A&E, care of patients on the wards and day unit and possibly outpatient.
The successful candidate will bring theirenthusiasm and skills to the haematology department which delivers specialised care to patients with a wide range of haematological disorders including leukaemia, bone marrow transplantation, haemophilia and haemoglobinopathies. Inpatients are mainly located on 2 wards, Ruth Myles Ward, a 13 bedded ward with 5 beds designated for haematopoietic stem cell transplant, and Gordon smith Ward which is shared with oncology. The haematology day unit is situated adjacent to the ward which provides facilities for blood and platelet transfusion, bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy, CVC line insertion and removal, venesection, administration of pentamidine and administration of IV and IT chemotherapy (in separate designated areas).
The unit has an apheresis service for stem cell harvests, therapeutic leukapheresis, plasma and red cell exchange. An emergency out-of-hours service is provided by SpRs and Consultants.

Applications are invited for the above posts based at St Georges Hospital, South West London. The successful applicants would join a team of Clinical Haematologists based at St Georges providing Haematology services.
We are seeking 1 full time SHO in Haematology preferably with experience in general haematology. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will work in collaboration with the existing consultant body and specialist registrars and clinical fellows, nurse specialist, other medical staff and the clinical psychologist to provide a comprehensive range of clinical and laboratory services for patients. The post will involve working through and supporting all subspecialties in the department including a range of malignant, stem cell transplant, red cell and thrombosis and haemostasis services
1 of these posts will be part of a hybrid rota and work collaboratively with Acute Medicine and provide on call cover to this effect. The other post will be a service provision only post and the successful candidate will work solely within the Haematology Department.
The post will be based within the Department of Haematology, St Georges Hospital NHS Trust which is sited in the Medical School building in Jenner Wing.
