Surgical Treatment Centre - Queen Mary's Hospital Roehampton

We are looking for enthusiastic staff to come and join our teams in Theatres in the Surgical Treatment Centre at Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton.

Providing excellent nursing care. As skills and competencies develop taking charge and actively participating in and contributing to the management of the theatre area or department on a regular basis. Supervising and mentoring junior staff.

This facility enables surgical teams to carry out many operations for a range of routine, day case procedures andhas been set up to rapidly develop provision of elective surgery through the use of efficient pathways, (GIRFT, 2020)

  • To tackle the expanding waiting list
  • To reduce the secondary impact of COVID-19 relating to morbidity associated with delayed surgery
  • To provide an environment and pathway which enables patient to attend with confidence
  • To meet patient preference for day surgery over inpatient care.

The 4 Operating Theatres will specialise in Day case:

  • Orthopaedics
  • Plastics
  • Gynaecology
  • Urology
  • General Surgery
  • Vascular (Veins)
  • Ophthalmology
  • Maxillofacial
  • Renal

The development of the Surgical Treatment Centre has created a wide range of opportunities to work in Theatres, Recovery & Anaesthetics.

We will support your development every step of the way and make sure that you are armed with the skills you need to meet every challenge you will face by providing you with the highest standards of training and support on the job through:

  • Regular meetings with your Senior Sister/Charge Nurse/Senior ODP
  • Mentor support from your Senior Sister/Charge Nurse/Senior ODP during your induction and orientation
  • Support from your Senior Sister/Charge Nurse/Senior ODP in the clinical area on shift
  • Protected teaching time each month
  • Practice Educator support
  • Competency based In house training
  • Opportunities to apply for funded specialist courses

In order to apply: You will need to be an RN1 or Registered ODP with relevant experience in Perioperative care. Demonstrate our Trust Values of being Excellent, Kind, Respectful and Responsible.

Successful post holder will already possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a small, busy and dedicated team.
