Job summary

The post holder will work as part of the newly established Portfolio Management Office (PMO) that supports the delivery of group wide initiatives.

They will support the Head of Group PMO to drive delivery of key strategic initiatives and underlying projects and programmes and assist in all areas of developing the Group PMO Model. Whilst adopting a partnering role, they will support the delivery teams to identify, plan for, track and measure outcomes of initiatives to underpin the realisation of benefits.

You will have a proven track record in project and programme delivery, PMO, planning, RAID and benefit management, programme and project governance development, assurance, and compliance.

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support operational teams with the day-to-day planning and provision of portfolio management level support to key strategic initiatives/projects/sprints
  • Lead on the coordination of efficient portfolio management practices to support business change.
  • Support the adoption of Key Performance Indicators and robust metrics to track, measure and report progress of delivery and play an active role in the production and realisation of portfolio level benefit realisation plan.
  • Mentor colleagues through the project lifecycle to help achieve successful delivery of project objectives/benefits/outcomes and increase capacity/capability to deliver at pace in a pressured environment.

Main duties of the job

Take a lead on all aspects of developing project/programme delivery standards for Group and also drive delivery of key initiatives and supporting projects.

Support the Head of PMO with the roll out of all PMO related activities and initiatives, designing and delivering innovative, effective and lasting solutions to complex service problems.

The PMO Transformation & Delivery Lead will:

  • Drive delivery of key strategic initiatives and supporting projects
  • Develop and manage associated delivery plans (for key initiatives and targeted strategic projects/programmes)
  • Support operational teams with the day-to-day planning and project management needs of key strategic initiatives/projects/sprints (helping teams set up a resilient project ecosystem with set standards)
  • Run PMO awareness / project standards and planning workshops to inform strategic planning requirements and support wider understanding of PMO standards
  • Identify key milestones, associated outcomes and critical path in plans
  • Ensure that Group initiatives and associated projects/programmes are appropriately planned, resourced and delivered (utilising PMO standards)
  • Ensure governance model/principles are actively documented, promoted and implemented effectively
  • Ensure project/programme planning and associated reporting meets prescribed standards and such reporting is produced accurately and in timely fashion
  • Monitoring and assuring the status of projects/programmes on a regular basis and to varying levels of detail according to audience
  • Mentor colleagues through the project lifecycle to help achieve successful delivery of project objectives/benefits/outcomes and increase capacity/capability to deliver at pace in a pressured environment
  • Represent the PMO function at a senior level, ensuring communications are cascaded in timely fashion and suitably tailored to target audiences
  • Support working partnerships with management, operational, clinical staff and others to ensure engagement for associated PMO and Group initiatives/projects
  • Use influencing and facilitation skills to inspire colleagues to approach work and challenges differently e.g. adopt innovative business processes and establish effective relationships with internal partners.
