Job summary
This is a direct replacement for an established post which forms part of the Band 6 OT neurology rotation. The B6 Specialist Occupational Therapist role is integral to the delivery of specialist neuroscience/ neurorehabilitation services across several locations including St George's main hospital site, Queen Mary's Hospital Roehampton and the Community Neurorehabilitation team in Wandsworth.
Main duties of the job
This post is integral to the delivery of activity within neurosciences/neurorehabilitation with clear specifications around staffing ratios, timeliness of assessment and intensity of rehabilitation; supporting the occupational therapists in the early assessment, early rehabilitation, functional retraining and discharge planning of patients. The role is essential in order to support/facilitate flow and patient care through clinical pathways and the post supports the delivery of 7 day services.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development including evidence of reflective practice.
Desirable
- Fieldwork Educators Course
- Attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the clinical field of neurology.
Experience
Essential
- NHS experience either as a qualified Occupational Therapist (substantive or locum) or as an undergraduate Occupational Therapy Student.
- At least 6 months post-qualification experience in Neurology (stroke/TBI)
- Working as part of a MDT
- Ability to form a sound prognosis and advise other members of the MDT
Desirable
- 6 months post-qualification experience in a Neuro rehab setting
- Previous experience at band 6 level
- Staff/student supervision/IPR
- Teaching experience in in-service programs
- Involvement in Clinical audit
- Experience of the research process
