Clinical Fellow in Thoracic Surgery

Job summary

An excellent training opportunity has arisen for a clinical fellow to join the Thoracic Surgery department at St Georges University Hospital.The post holder will work alongside 6 other middle grade doctors and a SHO. The unit has 5 consultants who carry out open, VATS and Robotic thoracic surgery.The Unit prides itself on providing first class teaching and training for its junior doctors.We expect all our staff to share the values that are important to the Trust, being Excellent, Kind, Responsible & Respectful, and behave in a way that reflect these.

Main duties of the job

  • Caring for inpatients and outpatients
  • Attendance in Thoracic Theatre
  • 1:7 on call
  • The individual is expected to take an active part in all the departmental academic audit, governance and research meetings.
  • The post holder will, along with Consultant and registrar colleagues;
    • contribute to the provision of Thoracic Surgical services to St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust,
    • be involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Trust in such hospitals, clinics or other premises as is required.
    • provide continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in his/her care.

Person Specification

Registration / Experience

Essential

  • Full GMC registration with entry on the Specialist Register
  • Experience At least 6 months applicable core experience
  • Committed to principles and practice of clinical audit
  • Interest and willingness to participate in developing research programmes.

Desirable

  • Previous relevant experience in Thoracic Surgery

Qulifications Experience

Essential

  • 2 years post qualification experience within a surgical/medical setting
  • MBBS or equivalent Registration with GMC
