Pharmacy Head of Operations, Business Planning & Development

Job summary

The post holder will work with the pharmacy senior management team to provide professional and strategic leadership and advice on commercial and business activities and pharmacy operational services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

  • Oversee, lead and be accountable for all pharmacy operational activity
  • Ensure operational capacity is available to deliver the demand
  • Develop a pharmacy strategy and operational plan to meet the needs of the organisation
  • Be accountable for the delivery of operational pharmacy services across the trust, including the on-call service
  • Develop the Pharmacy business plan and drive strategic growth
  • Develop specific marketing strategies and drive development strategies to enable delivery
  • Liaise with the Deputy Chief Pharmacists to support commercial ideas and opportunities
  • Oversee the development of the pharmacy commercial strategy
  • Deliver and drive components of the pharmacy commercial strategy
  • Accelerate our existing business growth focusing on our resources and capabilities
  • Work with the Chief Pharmacist and secure new partnerships (with both a UK and International focus)
  • Lead the pharmacy recruitment and retention strategy
  • Oversee and manage directorate KPIs
  • Work with the Chief Pharmacist to manage Human Resources requirements
  • Be the Operational Lead on the Trust Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Group

  • Educated to masters level or equivalent significant experience
  • Formal Management Qualification or equivalent significant experience
  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice

Desirable

  • Formal project management qualification (e.g.PRINCE2, MBA)

Experience

Essential

  • Senior management experience within the NHS
  • Significant experience of working in the NHS or a large complex organisation
  • Significant eperience delivering complex projects successfully and on time/ budget
  • Significant experience of business and service planning, including writing business plans
  • Significant evidence of effective working with clinicians and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Significant experience of budget and staff management

Desirable

  • Knowledge of research governance

  • Ability to analyses, manipulate and interpret complex data
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ability to lead with excellent interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity
