Job summary
To provide and facilitate a high quality, expert breast imaging service including the assessment, diagnosis and disclosure of results for the symptomatic breast service and the South West London Screening Services. To support the consultant practitioners in providing leadership of the operational management in the delivery of the symptomatic and screening breast imaging services in an ethical, timely, efficient and cost effective way.
Main duties of the job
- To be an expert practitioner in all aspects of specialist area of breastimaging, assessment, diagnosis and management of the patients for the symptomatic breast service and the South West London Screening Services.
- To do this in accordance with the NHS Breast Screening Programme quality standards, Integrated Commissioning Board and St Georges NHS Trust policies.
- To be expertly skilled in mammography reporting and independentlyundertake mammography film interpretation and reporting, as part of the Breast Imaging Unit's double reading and arbitration policy.
Depending on qualifications:
- To perform clinical breast examinations independently, documentobservations and participate in directing patient care.
- To undertake and accurately perform breast ultrasound examinationsautonomously, produce accurate diagnostic ultrasound reports andrecommend patient management.
- To undertake and accurately perform ultrasound-guided cyst aspirations, fine needle aspiration cytology and core biopsies as an independent practitioner.
- To undertake and accurately perform ultrasound guided interventional breast procedure techniques autonomously or under indirect supervision, in the symptomatic and screening services.
- To undertake and accurately perform stereotactic (X-ray)-guidedinterventional breast procedure techniques autonomously or under indirect supervision, in the symptomatic and screening services.

- Postgraduate interpretation and reporting in mammography or working towards
