Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Vascular Surgery

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of Clinical Nurse Specialists in Vascular Surgery. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will play a key role both within the multidisciplinary team, and in the vascular patient's journey from referral to surgery by using advanced clinical skills to undertake patient assessment, intervention, and treatment as an Independent Practitioner. The Vascular Clinical Nurse Specialist will have the opportunity to work within a variety of Vascular clinics as a rotational post to include a nurse led one stop leg ulcer clinic, claudication clinic, supervised exercise programme and pre-operative assessment for aortic, lower limb and carotid surgery. The nursing team have recently set up a nurse led Same Day Emergency Clinic (SDEC) and the post holder will have an opportunity to work independently in this clinic, using advanced skills to assess, diagnose, plan and evaluate treatment for patients presenting acutely with the support of the Vascular Consultant.

Main duties of the job

In partnership with members of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will develop, implement, and evaluate a seamless specialist service, ensuring that patients receive the highest standards of clinical care. They will demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service, providing specialist advice, education and support to health care professionals and patients. The post holder will actively undertake clinical audits within the specialist area.
